More Than a Concept: A New Display Architecture and Hardware Technology
“Hybrid is Better”: Grasping the strategic opportunity of “hybridization” in the field of photonics and visual media systems, Photonica integrates innovations and strengths from diverse technical fields, including telecom, nano-materials, fiber-optics, textile engineering, and image processing to create products that truly transcend the limitations of today’s conventional display and visual media systems.
Technology Platform Detail
Photonica has developed a complete technology platform. Employing common building blocks with minor variations to support different applications will enable a large range of form-factors and products. Photonica’s technology base is both diverse and focused.
As an overview, Photonica’s breakthrough HybridisplayTM architecture employs specific hardware components, including the two primary components of any totally new display technology: how light is directed and controlled and how light is switched on-and-off. The Company has achieved these milestones through advances in switching architectures, fiber optics/photonic textiles and photonics.
Hybrid Photonics – Photonica’s diverse and hybrid methods for switching light on-and-off, including hybrid next generation magneto-photonics, are dramatically faster than the switching speeds of conventional LCD, LCoS, Plasma and DLP display technologies.
Hybridisplay™: Telecom-Structured Visual Media Systems – This represents a complete re-thinking of the way forward in display and visual media systems technologies. Photonica has proposed in its new IP an advance that realizes hybrid systems through a telecom signal-processing paradigm, which among many benefits enables use of modulation technologies that have up until now been restricted to non-display high-speed telecommunications switching and photonic integrated circuits for computing.
SHardware™: Photonic Textiles/ Fiber optics – Photonica’s next generation method for directing and controlling light in complex arrays enables flexible and extremely large and low-cost display structures. This is the preferred method for realizing the Telecom-Structured Visual Media architecture.
Photonica’s proprietary technologies are identified with a new series of comprehensive patent disclosures to protect its next-generation innovations and key technologies.
